Removable Appliances

These can either be used to prevent the need for future more comprehensive orthodontic treatment with braces, or they can be used to solve issues which are easier to correct at a younger age, which may make future orthodontic treatment simpler.

Plates can be used to –

​

  • Expand the upper jaw if it is narrow and the upper teeth are biting on the inside of the lower teeth (posterior crossbites)

  • Push out a front tooth if it is biting on the inside of a lower tooth (anterior crossbites)

  • Stop a thumb-sucking habit

  • Bring back upper front teeth if they are sticking out too far.
